Kashmiris Want Peace and Development like other Parts of India; EU Parliamentarians

Srinagar: A delegation of European Union MPs visited Jammu. It was a first such international visit since the government ended abrogated the status to Jammu and Kashmir and split it into two union territories in early August.


"The visit is good and we have come to know about the situation in Kashmir. This is a first-hand experience and we loved the interaction with local public here says 'Virginie Joron', a EU parliamentarian from France.


The other parliamentarians also expressed happiness over the improved situation in Kashmir and said that now the government to take care of these people. However, terrorism is not only the problem of India along, but it's a global problem to be dealt with says 'said Ryszard Czarnecki', one of the 23 visiting MPs.


Apart from Poland's Czarnecki, the media gathering was addressed by France's Henri Maloose and Thierry Mariani and Britain's Bill Newton Dunn. All of them extended support to India's fight against terror, the visiting delegation while condemning the latest act of terror in which five labours were killed by the terrorists.  They also unequivocally said that the purpose of the visit was to ascertain the region's reality.
