Environmentalist, Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal to Distribute “Aam ki Lakdi” Near Palamau DC Office

Palamau: Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal, a distinguished environmentalist from Palamau, who has planted almost 8 millions of trees so far. He has devoted his life fully for the environment, or invested himself in trees. He decided to distribute mango's wood (Aam ki Lakdi) believed to be the holy during famous 'Chhat-pujah' in eastern India, such as East Utter Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhatisgarh etc. While, speaking to us, Mr. Jaiswal confirms that he will be present and hand over the same to the people, participating the 'Chhat-pujah'. A desk has been set up near the DC office Palamau.


A transporter by his profession earlier, Mr. Jaiswal green mission's begins in 1966, and extreme drought time, it was a severe conditions due to drought in the areas, and he was of just 12 years old. The shortage of eatable items could have been hardly seen across the country. The miracle happens when, his father was telling somebody about the fallen of trees, which causes the drought and that has a huge impact of Kaushal Kishore at that age.


He decided to plant more trees and ensure people to never face such a deadly situation in future. He used his pocket money, being given to him by his father. Mr. Jaiswal was buying trees, collecting it from other sources and planted different types of tree on almost 8 acres of his own land firstly, and thereafter he didn't look back.


A year down the line, he noticed plants were growing, but government started auctioning the forest areas and handing over to the private parties. He, then mobilised the people across and put down a very strong protest with a new phenomena “Ban – Rakhi Movement”. Under this schemes, the women, girls to tie 'Rakhis' to trees, pledging to protect till their last breath. This 'rakshi-bandhan' was performed four times in a year.


His program of 'Ban-Rakhi Movement' takes centre-stage within few weeks, following which there were massive people's gathering around the commissionery initially, but now it also reaches to other states such as West Bengal, Bihar, Orrisa etc. Kaushal Kishore Jaiswal is not the common man at this stage, he still loves tress and nature and also asked other to respect the nature otherwise it (nature) wont respect us.
