NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday announced to waive off Development and Infrastructure Charge for water and sewer with immediate effect. The government will charge only Rs 2310 for new water or sewer connection.
The announcement was made amid tussle with the Centre over the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) study report on quality of Delhi water.
This move will be benefiting to those, who apply the new connections for water and sewer in the capital. Earlier, the government was charging it separately to the prospective consumers in the city. The applicants had to pay the amount as prescribed by the government before installation of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) meter.
Now, the consumer may enjoy the benefits given by the government at lowest rate, which may benefit to the AAP in forthcoming assembly election, likely to be held early next year.
